The 1970s were a dark time for William Shatner.  Work dried up after Star Trek was canceled in 1969, his marriage failed, and he was reduced to living in a van, down by the river (it was actually a truck camper in the San Fernando Valley).  To make ends meet, he appeared at parties and allowed penguins to do horrible things to him:

For the second time, I have fallen asleep trying to get through "Spock's Brain."  I wonder if I should take this as a sign.  It is, after all, supposed to be the absolute worst episode of Original Trek.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to get through the rest of Season 3.
